Students--they are what teaching is all about!
Here are Michael's current students
(2009-2010) at Kunming Medical University.
The top five photos show Michael's fall 2009 post-graduate students--all
are working on degrees in medicine, with just about every major you can
imagine. Because of the demanding nature of their studies, English is only
offered during their first year (most have a three-year program), and I'm
honored that they have chosen this elective. I also meet with all 125
together, Monday mornings from 8:30-10:20.

This is the fall 2009 group photo of my post-grad medical students. About
half of them will continue to be my students in the spring, along with
about 80 sophomores. Watch this space for new photos in the spring! |

I love to teach
English, but I really don't like judging English speaking contests! The
contestants all work so hard, but all I have is about three minutes to
evaluate them. It is difficult to "judge" students when you watch them for
a whole semester, so "three minutes" just doesn't seem fair to me.
However, such contests are common in China, so I participate when I have
to.
