Our
daughter's wedding was the centerpiece of our 2004 trip to the US. Beth
greeted Vivian as she got off the plane by showing her mom a new
engagement ring! Over the next few months we got to know Rodney, and we celebrated the wedding just before we left Columbia
to return to China.
The
Big Day (May 22) began with a horrible hail storm, but once we finally got
to the church there were a lot of preparations to make. Here you see Daddy
helping Andrew put on his tuxedo.

| Beth gets help
from Mom (Vivian) & Grandma (Elise Krigline). Once everyone was dressed,
different individuals and groups went into the church to have photos taken
(center photo). Vivian's Mom, Aunt Mary and cousin Cheryl made the cake,
and various family members prepared the other reception refreshments. Beth
arranged all the silk flowers, and the bridesmaid's dresses were all
homemade (Vivian helped with one). Lots of family participation helped to
keep the costs from getting out of hand. |

| Two of our
favorite moments during the wedding ceremony are shown above, when pastor
(and family friend) Dave Phillips prays for the new union, and when the
bride and groom extinguish separate candles after lighting the unity
candle (symbolizing that two people have now become ONE in Christian
marriage). A reception follows the wedding ceremony. On the right, the newlyweds
cut the cake, and then feed each other a piece. Below you see a group
photo of the wedding party, followed by one last hug from dad before the new bride
and groom are showered with rice on their way to their honeymoon. |
